Judson College selects JUISY award winners

In the inaugural Judson University JUISY awards ceremony Sunday, Judson student-athletes were rewarded for their individual and team performances.

A total of 15 JUISY awards were given to the students as over 330 people voted online.

The JUISY awards program is a new concept for the awards banquet at Judson.

Students are awarded a plaque with their picture on it and the name of the JUISY they won.

At the inaugural awards banquet, the Judson men's basketball team came away with seven awards to lead all teams.

Senior women's basketball player Kelly Friestad won three awards, and men's basketball players Justen Boyd (Batavia) and Chris Oates (Streamwood) claimed two awards.

In addition to the JUISY voting, four other awards were given, as the athletic coaches and administrators voted on the Judson scholar athletes of the year and the athletes of the year.

Winning the Judson scholar-athlete of the year awards were Friestad for the women and junior Jacob Bostwick (baseball) for the men.
