Leaders have no regard for history

I am shocked an appalled by the behavior of the Mount Prospect Village Manager Mike Janonis and his associates on the matter of Ye Old Town Inn.

They are practically strong-arming Tod Curtis to fit their format on what they think the Uptown of Mount Prospect should look like, at all costs.

Ye Old Town Inn has been there for years. It was called Al's Old Town Inn before Mr. Curtis bought it and at one time had a four-lane bowling alley in it.

It is an icon of sorts to representing the beginning of Mount Prospect, which seems to mean nothing to the Village. This building is one of the oldest in Mount Prospect with a lot of history. There are pictures of the building with horse and buggy parked in front of it on the walls of Mrs. P & Me. My father's company was a renter from Tod Curtis for over 20 years. Mr. Curtis was a very good landlord, always accommodating to our needs.

The fact that the village already has pulled eminent domain on the Meersman family is disgusting enough. I have lived here most of my life and am getting to the point of embarrassment of this town's leaders. Shame on them and the way they are treating landowners who have contributed to the village for years.

I guess they have not noticed they are removing everything of the history of this town. Leave a little bit of the original town.
