Episcopal

Calvary Episcopal Church will hold its annual book, plant and trunk sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 in the front yard of the church, 222 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia. The church also will hold a barbecue dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. May 3.

The sale offers hundreds of books in all categories, a wide variety of plants, and yard sale items. Anyone wishing to donate books for the sale may do so in advance. Call the church at (630) 879-3378 to arrange a drop-off time at the church, or to arrange for someone to pick them up.

Donations for the trunk sale cannot be stored in advance, and should be brought to the church between 8 and 9 a.m. May 3. All unsold items will be donated to a local ministry.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit a wide variety of ministries, both within and outside of the parish.

The barbecue dinner will feature three choices: pork chop, chicken or combination. All dinners include applesauce, coleslaw, baked beans, rolls and butter.

Price is $10 per dinner. Drinks and dessert will also be available for separate purchase.

Dinner proceeds will support the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and Calvary's two summer youth mission trips, repairing homes through Appalachia Service Project, and teaching Vacation Bible School at an Indian reservation in Montana.
