Four-car crash in Streamwood kills 1, injures 2
A four-vehicle crash in Streamwood Friday afternoon left one man dead and two others hospitalized.
Hoffman Estates and Streamwood paramedics were called to the scene on Route 59 between Bode and Schaumburg roads at 3:15 p.m. The crash site lies near the border between their two jurisdictions.
Hoffman Estates paramedics arrived at the scene first and transported two injured people to the hospital, Streamwood Fire Department officials said.
An investigation revealed a Saturn traveling north on Route 59 crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck by several southbound vehicles, according to a Streamwood Police Department written statement.
The male driver of the Saturn, Edward Weber, 49, of 305 Maplewood Drive, Antioch, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy conducted today revealed he died of multiple injuries from the crash.
Two other drivers were transported to St. Alexius Medical Center for treatment, police said.
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
