American Legion seeking members

The American Legion of Fox River Grove Post 119 needs new members and manpower from discharged military personnel who were in the U.S. Armed Forces during the following periods; World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Lebanon & Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf War, and Iraq War.

A discussion was held on disbanding Post 119 due to the lack of manpower. With normal attrition, relocation of members and poor attendance at meetings, activities are difficult to schedule. There aren't seven active men for Honor Guard at deceased veterans' grave sites for a 21-gun salute.

The post meets at 7:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of every month at the village hall in Fox River Grove, 305 Illinois St. and Route 14. Meetings are very casual, relaxed and small.

If you are interested in joining the post, just drop by, or call Bob DePaul, commander, at (847) 639-0267.
