Get spruced up for a good cause Sunday at Salon 37
Like many salons, Salon 37 in Algonquin is closed on Sundays.
But this Sunday, owners Julie Grosse and Tiffany Soderlund are opening the salon's doors for a special benefit.
They're offering deals on haircuts, eyebrow waxing and polish to benefit Troy Oates and his family.
Oates was in an accident last month and suffered severe injuries. The injuries have left him temporarily unable to work and care for his young twin sons.
As Oates struggles with his injuries, the salon owners are trying to do something to help him and his wife, Ann, with the financial burdens they'll be facing over the next year.
So for this one Sunday, they'll open their doors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offer haircuts, waxing and polish to customers on a first-come, first-served basis.
"He is a family member of a couple of the girls that work for us -- and they just need the help, so we wanted to do something," Grosse said. "And it's always nice to do something for other people."
The salon has held similar cut-a-thons in the past, and Grosse says they're pretty popular because of the deals they offer and because of the cause they're benefiting.
For this Sunday's benefit, they are not taking appointments -- they're just taking as many people as they can to raise as much as they can for the Oates family.
So stop on by. The cuts are $15, the eyebrow waxing is $10 and the polish is $7.
The salon is just off of Randall Road at 1415 Commerce Drive, behind the BP gas station, and across the road from Algonquin Commons.
