School fees going up

The Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 school board has voted to increase student fees. The fees had not been increased since the 2004-05 school year. The board approved a $5 increase of fees, to $37 for kindergarten, $47 for grades 1 to 5 and $53 for grades 6 to 8. The lab fees were also increased by $4 to $25 for grades 6 to 8. The $5 increase is to offset the planned purchases of student accident insurance for all students instead of allowing it to be voluntary, as has been done in the past. The $4 increase will cover software purchases for the lab, according to the district.

Beware of Medicare scam

Anyone receiving suspicious phone calls or mail should call the police. For more information, call the council at (847) 991-1112.
