Briefs: Man accused of child porn

A DuPage County grand jury indicted a 46-year-old Lisle man this week on nine felony counts of child pornography, court records released Friday said. Gregory D. Anderson, 5275 Westview Lane, is accused of disseminating graphic images of children Nov. 19 and Feb. 26 on his computer. He was set free Feb. 27 after posting the required 10 percent of a $100,000 bond pending an April 21 arraignment.

Teen indicted in robbery

An 18-year-old man was indicted this week on felony charges after being accused of robbing a man March 29 in Naperville, court records released Friday said. Michael J. Porter, 325 W. Benton Ave., Naperville, is charged with armed robbery and robbery charges. Prosecutors said he stole cash from a man after threatening him with a knife. A DuPage County grand jury indicted Porter Thursday.

GPS theft suspect nabbed

Aurora police Friday questioned a 32-year-old Aurora man in connection with numerous thefts from vehicles in which GPS systems were taken. The man was arrested about 6:25 p.m. Thursday for a traffic stop on the 200 Block of North Ohio Street. Police said he drove a vehicle that matched a suspect vehicle in two thefts in Aurora and one in Naperville. Aurora detectives are working with Naperville, Batavia and Geneva on the cases and expect charges to be lodged sometime over the weekend. Aurora has experienced a rash of burglaries where GPS systems were taken from cars since January. Police do not believe the man is solely responsible for all of the thefts that have been reported.

Robbery suspect identified

Glen Ellyn police have released the identity of a man they suspect of trying to rob a 7-Eleven store with a knife. James A. Ingram, 30, of 1205 Cheltenham #1D, Glen Ellyn, is charged with attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery. Police said Ingram was located shortly after they received a report of the incident Thursday night. No one was hurt in the attempted robbery as the employee and witnesses wrestled the knife away from the perpetrator, police said.

Fire in Lombard

Lombard firefighters spent four minutes extinguishing a small house fire Thursday at 235 S. Brewster Ave. Authorities said the fire began in a couch on the front porch the home's occupants used while smoking. Damage to the home was estimated at $15,000, officials said. There were no injuries, and the occupants were allowed to re-enter the building.

Hanover Park eatery opens

Go Cool, an Indian restaurant and bar serving vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods, opens to the public in Hanover Park today following a grand-opening ceremony Friday with Mayor Rod Craig. The restaurant, at 2020 Army Trail Road in Sandpiper Plaza near County Farm Road, is operated by brothers Mayur and Alpesh Patel. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 7 to 10 p.m. daily. Garage fire in Lombard

The Lombard Fire Department is investigating the cause of a Wednesday evening garage fire at 418 W. Wilson Ave. The fire caused about $12,000 worth of damage, destroying the roof and damaging a vehicle parked inside.

Plant sale aids garden club

Itasca Garden Club plant sale order forms are available through Tuesday at the Itasca Community Library, the Itasca Park District and Kean's Bakery. The club is offering annuals in hanging baskets, flats and pots. Springbrook Nature Center is offering native wildflowers and grasses. Plant pick-up is May 17 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Itasca Municipal Complex, 550 W. Irving Park Road.
