Aurora police probing robbery

Aurora police were interviewing a man Thursday they said they believe robbed a local fast-food store manager of his daily deposit.

Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the 35-year-old manager from Aurora was walking outside a National City Bank on the 0-99 block of South Broadway Avenue around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday when he was hit over the head and his bank bag stolen.

The victim was treated for a laceration to his head and then released from Provena Mercy Medical Center.

Aurora police later arrested a 30-year-old man who fit the description of the possible robber and are continuing to question him. The money from the bank bag has not been recovered and police are not disclosing the amount of cash that was taken.

Police have talked with some witnesses and are looking for others. Anyone with information should call police at (630) 801-6655 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
