Plays at a high school stage near you
Grant is not the only school to hold a play this weekend. The following is a quick roundup of area productions:
• Warren Township High School Theatre will present the comedy, "The Death and Life of Sneaky Fitch" at 7 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday in the Black Box Theatre at the Almond Campus, 34090 Almond Road, Gurnee.
"The Death and Life of Sneaky Fitch" is set in Gopher Gulch, the perfect little Old West town, except for Sneaky Fitch. Just when the town thinks it has rid itself of this problem for good, the town discovers things can get worse. Featuring a cast of 15 characters - from Maroon the saloon girl to Rackham, the fastest gun in the West - "The Death and Life of Sneaky Fitch" is a nostalgic romp through the best and worst stereotypes of the Old West.
Admission is $2 for all ages, and tickets are available at the door on the evenings of each performance.
• Carmel Catholic High School's fine arts department will present its spring musical "Kiss Me Kate," a musical version of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew."
Featuring music and lyrics by Cole Porter, performances will begin at 7 p.m. tonight, Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
"Kiss Me Kate" features songs such as "So In Love," "Too Darn Hot," and "Brush Up Your Shakespeare." More than 120 students are involved in the production of the show.

• Wauconda Middle School will put on a performance of "Alice in Wonderland" on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The shows are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. There will be a special dinner theater opportunity for Friday night's performance.
All performances will be held in the school's gymnasium with general seating. The school is located at 215 Slocum Lake Road.

• "Anne of Green Gables," performed by Grayslake Middle School, will be presented on Friday and Saturday.
The performances will be held at 7 p.m. both days in the middle school large gym.
Tickets are available for $5 at the door 30 minutes prior to curtain.
