Choose best pizza, help needy kids

The Hoffman Estates Jaycees' Best Pizza Contest will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Schaumburg Township, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates.

Residents will judge pies from local restaurants, including Bill's Pizza Pub, CiCi's Pizza, Danny's Pizza, Domino's and Rosati's. The $6 donation will benefit the Jaycees' Holiday Kids Shopping Project, which gives kids a chance to shop for clothes and other needed items during the holidays.

Raffle tickets will be available for $5, or three for $10. Proceeds go toward the American Cancer Society and St. Baldrick's Foundation for children with cancer. Prizes include Cubs tickets, jewelry and dinner.

Police applications due this Friday

The village of Hoffman Estates is accepting applications for the position of police officer through 4 p.m. Friday.

Applications may be picked up at and returned to the police department, 1200 Gannon Drive. A $20 processing fee is required upon pickup of the application.
