Township denies freedom of speech

Voters in Downers Grove Township, your voices have been silenced. A public policy question about immediate withdrawal of our military will not be on the ballot in November. Why? Our Downers Grove Township trustees don't want to know what you think. As your elected officials they believe that they should do your thinking. We can just shut up and pay the bill.

I am tired of elected officials who don't want to give the people a voice in public affairs. DuPage County is no longer the Republican powerhouse it used to be. Our township trustees belong to a party in decline. In order to hold on to that power they will have to silence the people.

Democracy is endangered not just in Iraq but in your backyard as well. Speak up and contact Township Supervisor Barbara Wheat at barbara.wheat@dgtownship.com. Your right to vote on public policy is not being defended by your elected officials. Speak up and tell them that you still value the freedom of speech.
