Bakers Square still open for business

Your headline for the article concerning Bakers Square filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy (Area Bakers Square restaurants close as parent declares bankruptcy) sure scared a lot of people.

Dozens and dozens of people were frantically calling to see if we were still open, if their gift certificates were still valid and if they could still get Bakers Square pie. All of the answers were "yes."

Chapter 11 bankruptcy does not mean that the company has shut down. It means it has to reorganize its debt to continue to stay in business, using United Airlines as an example.

Although some restaurants did indeed close, there are still over 30 open in the Chicago area. There are many employees like myself who are ready to serve our loyal guests as well as those who would like to visit for the first time.
