United Way needs volunteer help

The Barrington Area United Way is seeking volunteers to help evaluate requests submitted by health and human service agencies for funding during the 2008-2009 allocations cycle. Training for the allocation process will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 9 at Barrington Village Hall, 200 S. Hough St.

This training is mandatory for all volunteers. Other allocation volunteer responsibilities include a visit to the assigned agency, a review of agency proposals and attendance at an agency request presentation meeting to be held on May 8.

District 211 cancels May 29 meeting

The Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 meeting for May 29 has been canceled. The board voted recently to cancel the meeting due to it falling on the same day as graduation for Hoffman Estates High School.

Meetings for the remainder of the school year are scheduled on April 10 and 24, May 15 and June 11.
