Firm to hunt for Dist. 94 superintendent
The West Chicago High School District 94 school board voted unanimously Tuesday to hire a Glenview-based search firm to find a replacement for its retiring superintendent.
Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates will be paid between $20,000 and $30,000 to find a replacement for Superintendent Lee Rieck, who is expected to step down at the end of the 2009 school year.
Rieck has worked for District 94 for the last nine years.
Board President Tony Reyes said school board members will meet several times before the end of the school year to determine exactly what sorts of qualifications they'll be seeking in a potential candidate.
"Hopefully it will be somebody who has experience managing a diverse student population," Reyes said. "It may take some time to decide exactly what the board wants."
The search firm may begin as early as August, and could have final candidates brought to the board by the end of the year, Reyes said.
Leading the district's search efforts will be Marvin Edwards, a retired superintendent who once ran the state's second-largest district, Elgin Area School District U-46.
