Attend a fashion show at Epworth United

Shoe hooks, flat-irons, crinolines, or girdles vs. Spanks?

Wrist gloves, patent leather shoes and poodle skirts all involve a bit of wry drama for women as they struggled with fashions past.

Join the United Methodist Women of Wesley and Epworth United Methodist Churches at 2 p.m. April 12 for their Spring Fashion Show and Musical. Enjoy a humorous fashion chat, readings from a young girl's 1912 diary, a peek inside hat historian Sharon Gilbert's collection with stories presented by Judi Brownfield from Books at Sunset. Another highlight will be a contemporary look at Hamilton Wings' Rise Jones' legendary chapeaus.

The afternoon will showcase fashions by Coldwater Creek of Geneva and a spring musical collection under Pat Ferguson, Wesley musical director, featuring the Wood Dale Bell Choir, Epworth Youth Guitars, Wesley's multi-cultural String Orchestra and Chancel Choir.

Arrive at 2 p.m. for the complimentary dessert buffet and program.

A free will offering will be taken for Katrina and Methodist missions.

The event will be held at Wesley Methodist Church, 1106 South St. in Elgin. For details, call (847) 742-7256.
