One dead, two hospitalized after crash near West Chicago

The DuPage County sheriff's department is investigating a fatal four-vehicle crash that occurred near West Chicago Sunday morning, officials said.

Officers responded to a call at North Avenue and Powis Road. Upon arrival, one driver was pronounced dead, and two others were transported to Central DuPage Hospital with unknown injuries, officer Dawn Domrose said.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash, Domrose said.

North Avenue will be closed from Powis Road to Route 59 until about 4 p.m. Sunday for further investigation.

The identities of the injured haven't been released because family members need to first be notified, officials said.
