Foundation raises $25,000 for schools
The Schaumburg Township Elementary School Foundation raised more than $25,000 at its seventh annual Mardi Gras and Casino fundraiser Feb. 22 at the Woodfield Hyatt. More than 260 guest enjoyed dinner, casino games, raffle prizes and a silent auction.
"The true beneficiaries are the students of District 54, as proceeds from Mardi Gras are used to fund teacher grants and student scholarships," event chairwoman Donna Anderson said.
The Schaumburg Township Elementary School Foundation is a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board and dedicated to raising and distributing financial and other resources, with focus on enhancing and enriching the education, for all District 54 students.

Discuss adoption process from A to Z
Attorney Sally Wildman presents "The Adoption Process From A to Z" from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Road, Palatine.
Offered through Community Education District 211, the seminar will include the fundamentals of an adoption and the legal steps involved, along with resources on choosing agencies and related professionals.
Discussion will focus on the types of adoption available, initiating a search, new steps in legal proceedings and current trends toward openness in adoption.
