Roadside Party to rally aid for babies

Liberty Tax Service will host a "Roadside Party" fundraiser for the March of Dimes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at its Hanover Park office, 7201 Olde Salem Circle.

Area businesses have donated items for the event including food and prizes. Liberty Tax is also sponsoring a national dance contest, "The Liberty Dance for Babies," to be shown on YouTube. Upload your video at libertydanceforbabies.com.

Until Saturday, Liberty Tax will offer free tax preparation to first-time customers who contribute at least $25 to the March of Dimes, which works to improve the health of babies. For more information, call (630) 372-7582.

Fundraiser raises $25,000 for schools

The Schaumburg Township Elementary School Foundation raised more than $25,000 at its seventh annual Mardi Gras and Casino fundraiser Feb. 22 at the Woodfield Hyatt. More than 260 guest enjoyed dinner, casino games, raffle prizes and a silent auction.

"The true beneficiaries are the students of District 54, as proceeds from Mardi Gras are used to fund teacher grants and student scholarships," event chairwoman Donna Anderson said.

The Schaumburg Township Elementary School Foundation is a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board and dedicated to raising and distributing financial and other resources, with focus on enhancing and enriching the education, for all District 54 students.
