Students, seniors to collaborate for Harper fashion show

Styles from the '50s and '60s - some modeled by the seniors who once wore them -- will hit the runway this month at a show staged by Harper students. The show takes place at 2 p.m. Friday at Friendship Village, 350 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.

Students in Harper's fashion program are teaming up with Schaumburg's Friendship Village senior community to offer a "Sands of Time" fashion show, and some of the center's residents will serve as models. They'll wear historical looks from bygone eras, donated to Harper by the Fashion Institute of New York.

Other clothes, including newer garments produced in a variety of Harper classes, will be modeled by Harper students.

The show will include a brief presentation detailing Harper's fashion program and explaining the inspiration behind the fashion show's designs. Even students in Harper's earliest sewing courses will have garments onstage.
