2 teens charged with breaking into Roselle store

Two teenagers were arrested for burglary following a Monday night break-in at a Roselle convenience store, police said Tuesday.

Robert J. Gadamowitz, 18, whose last-known address is 736 S. Spring St., Roselle, and Michael L. Marzigliano, 19, of 1269 Prestwick Lane, Itasca, each have been charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Gadamowitz no longer lives at the Roselle address and is believed to be homeless, police said.

The two teens were arrested shortly after 11 p.m. Monday when police responded to an alarm at Pik Kwik Food Store, 525 E. Irving Park Road.

When police arrived on the scene, they observed two males fleeing the rear of the building on foot.

Police said it appears entry to the store was gained via a roof hatch. But nothing was stolen.

"We interrupted them," Roselle Police Deputy Chief Jimmy Lee said. "As they saw the squads, they panicked. We saw them fleeing."

Roselle police, with the assistance of Itasca and Arlington Heights police, searched the area.

They found a car that wasn't registered to a Roselle resident parked on the 400 block of Locust Lane.

An Arlington Heights police officer and his K-9 dog found one suspect hiding in the backyard of a residence in the area. The other suspect was located soon after.

"Our guys did an excellent job," Lee said. "It was a good night for the cops."

Gadamowitz and Marzigliano were transported to DuPage County jail after their arrest, police said.
