Aurora cops seek help identifying 2 men in armed robbery of music store
Police and Aurora Area Crime Stoppers are asking the public for help in identifying and catching two men wanted in connection with a Feb. 26 armed robbery on the city's near-east side.
Police released surveillance photos Friday of one of the men sought in the robbery of Estrella Music on the 700 block of East New York Street.
Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said two men, one armed with a handgun, entered the music store around 8 p.m. and demanded cash from the 21-year-old clerk.
He said the men fled after receiving "a significant amount of cash." No one was injured in the holdup.
Police say the suspect caught on film appears to be about 5 feet 6 inches tall. He weighs about 150 pounds and was wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt, with a picture of the Virgin Mary on the back. He also wore a black skull cap and black gloves.
The other suspect, armed with the handgun, is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and also weighs about 150 pounds. He was dressed in all-black clothing, including a black ski mask over his face.
"We're not necessarily able to tie these two to other incidents," Ferrelli said. "At this time we have no leads, which is why it is important for anyone with information to step forward."
Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police at (630) 801-6655 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to any arrests.
