Library raffle stirs thoughts of warm weather

We still may be shivering as we search for signs of spring, but a trip to the Town and Country Public Library at 320 E. North St. in Elburn can remind us of the warm days of patriotic holidays which lie ahead.

The Friends of the Library are holding a red, white and blue basket raffle through May 24.

There is one basket and one winner, and a lot of prizes in the basket.

Items to be raffled are six sets of red, white, and blue American flag dishware. Each set includes a plate, a large mug and a bowl.

Other prizes in the basket include a new garden American flag, a large crocheted flag blanket (suitable for use as a throw), a 60-inch by 84-inch oval all American tablecloth, and a Precious Moments Uncle Sam soft doll. The winner also receives a number of books, including "Sunday in America," a book of photos; "1776," by David McCullough and "Last Man Standing."

Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are available at the circulation desk. The drawing will be held at noon May 24 at the library.

Proceeds will support new material for the adult and youth departments. All items are donated by Vicki McGuire of Elburn and the Friends of the Library.

For information, call the library at (630) 365-2244.
