No more buying in Cook County now

Oh, how good it feels for the citizens of Cook County to be led around by their noses.

After the Stroger-led county board voted a tax increase to make the county sales tax 10.25 percent, making the us the highest taxing body in the nation, we made the national news.

As a senior citizen, I think it stinks to high heaven. But don't sweat the little things, like Stroger going on to hire his fourth public relations chief in 14 months -- at a $105,000 salary.

His other three public relations hires haven't lost their jobs, they've only been only reshuffled to new posts -- one a $100,000 job in county planning, one to a $99,800 job as liaison to churches (job description?) and another to an $85,000 job as a hospital spokesman.

I will not be buying any big-ticket item in Cook County again and will cut back all my spending in this county.
