Public works bill must be approved
I've read that 75 percent of Illinois highways are more than 40 years old and that most were designed to last 40 years. Guess what? Drive anywhere in the suburbs, if you can get around, and you will know that is true.
And while people want to blame unions for businesses leaving the state, I say we should look at our lawmakers. If we do not make the infrastructure improvements for it to be economical or enticing to do business in Illinois, why should they stay?
Illinois legislators need to pass a major public works program. Let's not bypass the federal funds we can realize; let's not drive more business out of our state. Let's get creative. Let's get together, and get it done!
We have seen a proposal from the executive branch (governor's office). Hopefully, our lawmakers will now make us proud.
