'Hope' is not going to keep us safe
If we're willing to be intellectually honest, and start from a baseline that says both Obama and McCain are fundamentally decent men, the decision should come down to their demonstrated ability to lead on the most important issues of today, starting with terrorism.
McCain is a hero, knowing firsthand the macro and micro impact of wartime decisions. He has a long track record of making the right decisions in the best interest of the country, even when those decisions are sometimes detrimental to him. McCain's plan of action to protect America, and her interests, is rooted in diplomacy through strength, and an understanding that, like it or not, the world is and always has been governed by the threat and aggressive use of force.
Obama is three years removed from the Illinois legislature, has been a part-time U.S. Senator for much of that time, and has no substantial record of accomplishment qualifying him to be our Commander in Chief. His plan of action to protect America is essentially to improve our image in the world by engaging in negotiations with any leader who will talk to us.
What's more likely to keep us safe, "hope" in a better image, or diplomacy through strength?
