Plato Center HEA unit to meet Friday
The Plato Center Unit of the Homemakers Association will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at the Plato Township Hall, 10N934 Rippburger Road.
The cough pillow workshop, under the direction of Jackie Anderson, will be held before the meeting, from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring a lunch.
The unit wants to thank all the ladies who participate at this workshop. They bring in sewing machines and ironing boards to make these pillows.
The unit was mentioned in the Auxiliary Update of Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
At the March meeting, the hostesses will be Bonnie Read, Donna Peddy and Bev Kosel. The lesson for the meeting is about a diet to prevent diabetes. One of the presenters is Nancy Haire.
The group will start collecting membership dues of $13.
There is still time to sign up for the March tour, luncheon and craft of Esther's Place in Big Rock.
At the February meeting, the lesson "Where do you want to live when you grow up?" was presented by Haire and Harriet Bradley. It was very informative and offered many options about retirement communities. Bradley and Hair also created the Fun Day centerpieces.
Nancy Sisler came to present a program on a greeting card workshop. Sisler is retiring, but there is a group of women taking over under the direction of Sue Fredrick.
The monies earned go to the Community Crisis Center.
Fifteen members of the Plato Center Unit attended the Fun Day/Fine Arts and Craft Show competition at St. Gall Church in Elburn. They had an enjoyable day; the program about seasons, presented by Peg Lehman, was wonderful. Also, a number of the unit members were lucky winning at the centerpiece and 50/50 raffles.
