Wheaton church burglar gets 6 months
The last of three men convicted of breaking into a Wheaton church will serve periodic jail time for his role in the crime.
Mirnes Logo, 18, of Wheaton was sentenced this week to six months of periodic jail time after he pleaded guilty to burglary, authorities announced today. Logo must serve four years' probation when set free.
On Oct. 19, 2006, thieves used a brick to smash a window at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1753 S. Blanchard St., Wheaton. A janitor called police to report seeing three men fleeing with a variety of electronic equipment.
Logo is the last of three men involved in the burglary to be sentenced.
In March 2007, Alen Kalember, 21, of 330 President St. in Carol Stream was sentenced to five years in prison. Then in December, Nedim Sivcevic, 26, of 203 Gazebo Lane in Lombard was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Kalember and Logo were previously found to be linked to a string of church burglaries in Wheaton dating back to July 2006.
Since none of the men were U.S. citizens at the time of the crime. They surrendered their passports as a condition of bail.
