Celtic harp player to visit MCC

Explore the world of old Ireland as Patrick Ball, one of the premier Celtic harp players in the world, presents "Celtic Harp and Stories" at 7 p.m. March 14 in the MCC Conference Center.

A historian, musician and storyteller, Ball will weave old tales of wit and enchantment and perform on a brass-strung Celtic harp with its crystalline, bell-like sound.

Ball, who has recorded six discs of instrumental music and two of spoken word, appears at many colleges and universities across the country, and performs two solo musical theater pieces, "O'Carolan's Farewell to Music" and "The Fine Beauty of the Island."

Tickets are $20. To reserve a space with a credit card, call (815) 455-8588 and use event ID NCC S04 001. Tickets also will be available at the door.

For information, call Molly Walsh, conference center coordinator, at (815) 455-8697.

McHenry County College is at 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
