Art exhibit focuses on women

Women's Works 21st annual Fine Art Exhibition is the Northwest Area Arts Council-sponsored exhibition of fine art at Old Courthouse Art Center, 101 N. Johnson St., Woodstock.

The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, through to April 26, Exhibition opens today. The gallery phone number is (815) 338-4525.

A Gala Artist Reception will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. March 15.

Women's Works is a juried fine art exhibit presented annually by the Northwest Area Arts Council. This nationally recognized exhibition is held during March in conjunction with Women's History Month.

The goal of the exhibit is to focus on female artists living and working in North America.

Many of the artists in the exhibit are from McHenry County and the surrounding areas. Slated as one of the biggest art event of the season in McHenry County, the Gala Reception attracts more than 500 visitors.

Visitors can view original art works, meet the artists and purchase original art work at the reception.

This event is free and open to the public, although a donation to the nonprofit art organization NAAC would be appreciated.
