Church group to celebrate World Day of Prayer

Worship will begin at 1 p.m.
Church Women United is an ecumenical movement that brings together Christian women of many denominations to work for a just, caring and peaceful society.
World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of women of many faith traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March. Throughout the entire day, we collectively pray all over the world, beginning with the first sunrise and ending at the last sunset. Our prayers follow the sun's path around the globe. WDP's motto is "Informed prayer leads to prayerful action."
This year's worship service was written by the women of Guyana. The theme, "God's Wisdom Provides New Understanding," is especially meaningful to the women of Guyana. The women of Guyana call upon wisdom as we join with them in rejoicing in God's inhabited world.
The guest speaker for this service is Rev. Digna Campanano who is Staff Chaplain for Cardiac Care at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. She is an ordained Clergy in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Rev. Campanano, who hails from the Philippines, has a degree in political science from the University of Pangasinan, Philippines. This academic preparation qualified her to take a post in a government agency, the Disaster and Rehabilitation Coordinating Council, which provided moral, spiritual and psychological support and assistance to victims of war conflicts in the Philippines.
This work experience enhanced Rev. Campanano's passion for the Word and compassion for the world. She served on the faculty in the Political Science Department of Northern Christian College, Philippines.
She has a Master of Divinity degree from Silliman University Divinity School, a university founded by the Presbyterian Mission in 1901.
All are welcome to attend the service. Free childcare will be provided.
