• Illinois State University, Normal, announced the following students completed requirements for master's degrees at the end of the 2007 summer session.
Hoffman Estates Tyrone Alvin Jones (education) and Leonore Marie Ulaszek (education).
Schaumburg: Kevin David Howieson and Kelly Anne Roberts.
• Henry A. Soong of Schaumburg, a graduate of Conant High School, was granted a Health Care Career Internship by St. Alexius Medical Center Foundation, with the support of the Medical Dental Staff, to secure an education in a health care career. After spending at least 24 hours for four weeks in various departments and doctor's offices, he receive an internship certificate and a scholarship check is sent to the colleges they are entering.
• Nick Jacobs, son of William and Diane Jacobs of Schaumburg, was a member of the 2007 Monmouth College marching band. Jacobs is a sophomore physics major.
• Brendan Murphy, son of Michael and Mary Jo Murphy of Schaumburg, was a member of the 2007 Monmouth College marching band. Murphy is a sophomore majoring in music.
• Adam Keller of Schaumburg, son of Kenneth and Maria Keller of Galesburg, was a member of the 2007 Monmouth College marching band. Keller is a freshman physics major.
• Daniel Kellermeyer of Schaumburg, a junior at Purdue University, was selected for membership in the 2007 Purdue "All-American" Marching Band.
• Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, announced the following students received bachelor's degrees Aug. 11 at the end of the summer session.

• Holly L. Sturek of Hoffman Estates graduated cum laude Dec. 15 with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo.
• Kate Ann Sicklesteel of Schaumburg was awarded a master of science in accounting degree from Bradley University at the May 19 commencement ceremonies in Peoria.
• George Maley of Hoffman Estates was named to the Academic Honors List or the spring 2007 semester at Morton College in Cicero. Part-time students with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0-point scale receive this recognition.
• Bradley University in Peoria announced the following students received bachelor's degrees at the May 19 commencement ceremonies.

To achieve summa cum laude honors, a student must achieve a 3.8 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale. For magna cum laude honors, a 3.6 or better grade point average must be achieved; and students with cum laude honors must achieve a 3.4 or better grade point average.
• Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., named the following local students to the Fall 2007 Dean's List.

• Aubrey Jean Balk of Schaumburg, a student majoring in art, pre-education/secondary at Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., was named to the fall 2007 provost and vice president for academic affairs' list. To qualify, students must attain a semester 3.50 to 3.99 grade point average.
• Laura Suzanne Gleason Schaumburg, a student majoring in chemistry; at Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., was named to the fall 2007 provost and vice president for academic affairs' list. To qualify, students must attain a semester 3.50 to 3.99 grade point average.
• Christina Pulles of Hoffman Estates, a student in the College of Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2007 semester for earning a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Pulles is a graduate of Fremd High School in Palatine.
• Emin Lelic, son of Nusret and Sadika Lelic of Schaumburg, received a bachelor's degree in history from Carleton College Northfield, Minn., at the June 9 commencement exercises.
• John Joseph McGowan of Schaumburg graduated with a bachelor's degree in sport and fitness Management from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha at the end of the spring 2007 semester.
• John Heller, a graduate of Fremd High School, Palatine, was awarded an International Engineering Scholarship to study chemical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The award includes a $1,000 scholarship, help with round trip air fare to any study destination worldwide, and $3,000 per semester for one or two semesters abroad.
• Erik Babcock, a graduate of Fremd High School, was awarded an International Engineering Scholarship from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The award includes a $1,000 scholarship, help with round trip air fare to any study destination worldwide, and $3,000 per semester for one or two semesters abroad.
Babcock is majoring in aerospace engineering in Urbana-Champaign.
• Alex Lee, a graduate of William Fremd High School, has been awarded an International Engineering Scholarship from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Lee is studying general engineering at Illinois.
• Jaclyn Basak of Hoffman Estates, a student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, received a scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year from Polish Women's Alliance of America, a fraternal benefit society headquartered in Chicago.
• Katelyn Otterness of Hoffman Estates was named to the fall 2007 dean's list at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau for earning at least a 3.5 grade point average.
• Chris P. Petterson, of Hoffman Estates, a sophomore at Millikin University, Decatur, was named to the dean's list for the 2007 fall semester for earning a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
• Hollie J. Logsdon of Schaumburg, a freshman at Millikin University, Decatur, was named to the dean's list for the 2007 fall semester for earning a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
