The briefs: Going bald for charity
Going bald for charity
More than 90 men, women and children will shave their heads bald Friday to show solidarity to children with cancer and raise money for childhood cancer research. The fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation is set for 3 p.m. Friday at John Barleycorn, 1020 National Parkway, in Schaumburg. Those giving up their locks will be cheered on by a crowd of friends, doctors, family, nurses, children and others -- including Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson -- who have been touched by cancer and want to further awareness that pediatric cancer is the leading disease killer of children and desperately in need of more research money.
