MCC has tips for home sellers
Learn more about the financial side of real estate with entertaining and educational classes offered this spring by McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department. Classes include "Sell Your Home for Top Dollar," "Purchasing a Foreclosure Property" and "Strategic Mortgage Planning."

These classes will begin soon:
• Sell Your Home for Top Dollar: Prepare your home for sale and get it sold, on your own or with an agent. This class gives you step-by-step instructions on preparing your home for today's competitive market, determining current home values, advertising that works and holding a successful open house. Required disclosures, the Residential Real Estate contract and how to handle inspections also are included. This class meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday. Course fee is $19. Use course ID NHG S30 003 when registering.
• Purchasing a Foreclosure Property: This course offers valuable insights into the many benefits of purchasing a foreclosure property. Learn the different types of foreclosure properties, the cash incentives available, how the bidding process works and how to get started. Intended for potential home buyers or investors looking for rental properties. This class meets from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 18. Use course ID NFM S01 003 when registering. Another section of this class meets from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Thursday, April 24. Use course ID NFM S01 004 when registering. The cost of either section is $29.
• Strategic Mortgage Planning: Dollars and Sense: Learn strategies that can assist you to incorporate your home and other real estate into a well-balanced financial plan and how to avoid or delay payment of capital gains taxes. A Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist and a Certified Financial Planner will teach you why paying off your mortgage may be hazardous to your wealth. This class meets from 7 to 9 p.m. March 25. Course fee is $19. Use course ID NFM S26 003 when registering.
