Two still hospitalized after 3-car accident near Oswego

Two Aurora women remained hospitalized Friday after a three-car accident Wednesday outside Oswego that injured them and nine children.

Carol Culbertson, 42, of Aurora was in critical condition at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove while another driver, Tracy Kennedy, 33, of Aurora remained in fair condition at Edward Hospital in Naperville.

Seven children in Culbertson's minivan were transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Five were treated and released and two were transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, said Courtney Satlak, Rush-Copley spokeswoman.

Loyola officials had no information on the two children reportedly transported there.

Two young children in Kennedy's Chevy Suburban were treated for minor injuries and released.

The crash occurred about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Normantown and Ramm roads.

Sheriff's deputies said Kennedy's vehicle was traveling south on Normantown when it clipped the rear bumper of a northbound vehicle, causing Kennedy to lose control before her Chevy Suburban struck Culbertson's van head-on.

Barry said no charges had been filed as of Friday because investigators are waiting to talk to Culbertson. No charges are expected before the middle of next week.
