Someone should have seen it coming

I wanted to express my deepest sympathy to everyone who was touched by the NIU shootings.

In the days after the shootings, everyone was saying that there were no warning signs that this man would have committed such a horrible crime such as this.

I think if the police and his family would have opened their eyes, they would have known that this was coming before it even started.

I believe he was angry with himself and thought he would take it out on innocent people. I also believe this whole mess could have been avoided if there was a simple background check when someone purchases a firearm.

What is so hard about delaying an applicant by a few days to make sure he is willing and mentally able to take on a responsibility so dangerous?

Again, my heartfelt sympathy for all affected by this sadness.
