Partisan criticism of Durbin unfair

I'm writing in response to Peter Brunk's Feb. 8 letter, "Durbin doesn't deliver for Illinois."

In Mr. Brunk's logic, Sen. Durbin is somehow responsible for the Bush Administration's decision to pull funding and support from Futuregen, just a few weeks after Illinois was chosen over Texas (yes, Texas!) to host the new clean coal research project.

Sen. Durbin led the charge to win the project and now he's leading the charge to keep it. I find it offensive that Mr. Brunk would attack him after all he's done.

Oh, and by the way, Mattoon would have been the Futuregen site, not Decatur as Mr. Brunk wrote. For future letters, more knowledge of the subject and less senseless partisanship please.
