A prayer to end the free will to kill

Many services are being held and prayers said on behalf of the victims and the survivors of the Northern Illinois University, Virginia Tech and Lane Bryant massacres. Our prayers are offered to our God, and we ask Him to give us comfort and peace after such horrific happenings.

We offer our prayers to God because we know He is listening, and if He is listening, I propose we ask Him for a radical change in one of His gifts to us. He has given us free will so we may always have choice and not be mere robots. May I suggest that we all join in prayer to Him and ask Him to place limits on our free will.

Yes, we desire free will to choose the town in which to live, the schools we wish to go to, the jobs we seek, the mate with whom we will live, the kinds of homes and cars and possessions we will have, and other things. But we do not need the free will to kill senselessly in order not to be robots.

I propose we all join in a universal prayer to God, and petition Him to limit free will so we may choose to be kind and loving and helpful toward others, but not possess the choice to slaughter and kill innocent beings. Limited free will could be God's greatest gift to us.
