Mt. Prospect band to perform music from around the world

The Mount Prospect Community Band, conducted by Ralph Wilder, will present a concert titled, "World Music Celebration," at 2 p.m. March 9 at the Forest View Educational Center located at 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights.

Tickets are $7 in advance and $9 at the door. For tickets, contact the Mount Prospect Park District, (847) 640-1000.

This performance will feature classical guitar virtuoso Jason Deroche, who will perform "Concierto de Aranjuez" by the Spanish composer, Joaquin Rodrigo.

The band will also perform "Variations on a Korean Folk Song" by John Barnes Chance; the March from "Symphonic Metamorphosis" by the German composer, Paul Hindemith; and "Roumanian Folk Dances" by the Hungarian composer, Bela Bartok. The band will also perform music from the movie, "The Gadfly," a story based on Italian legend and composed by the famous Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich. The concert will conclude with Tchaikovsky's "Capriccio Italian."
