Millions who are not ashamed of America

In reply to Angela DiMaso's letter (Feb. 9) that she is ashamed to say that she comes from America when she travels, she is probably unaware that millions are waiting years and years to come to the United States. Having lived, not just traveled, on four continents, and speaking two foreign languages, I know that an American passport is worth $10,000 to $50,000 on the black market. When we were overseas, we were told that if we ever lost our passport, to report it to the American embassy immediately as it would be quickly doctored to get someone into our country illegally.

Early in the morning at American embassies overseas, the long lines of people form, all hoping they will be one of the lucky ones to come to America.

If Angela is really so ashamed of America I'm sure she could find someone to swap places with her.
