Hockey
HIT results: Loyola beat the Stevenson Junior Varsity Patriots 1-0 at Twin Rinks arena, even though the team had beaten them twice before this year, 8-1 and 5-2.
In the early stages Stevenson swarmed the Ramblers' net and came close to scoring at least three times. With six minutes left to play in the first period, Stevenson committed a turnover in its own end, the puck ending up on the stick of Loyola's winger in front of the net. Loyola scored to take a 1-0 lead.
After taking the lead, Loyola was persistent in its defensive game plan. Stevenson outshot the Ramblers 40-10, but Loyola's goalie stopped shot after shot.
Any time Loyola got possession of the puck in its own end, they did everything possible to shoot it out of the zone. As a result, Loyola had very few scoring chances, but Stevenson wasn't able to get the equalizer. In the end Loyola was able to make their goal stand up for the 1-0 upset victory.
This was Stevenson's last regular season game in the HIT conference, and the defeat put the Patriots into fifth place, two points out of the HIT league playoffs.
