Alcatel-Lucent suit seeks $2 billion

PARIS -- Alcatel-Lucent SA, which has facilities in Naperville and Lisle, will seek record damages for patent infringement from Microsoft Corp. and Dell Inc. in a trial started Wednesday in San Diego. Paris-based Alcatel- Lucent is seeking more than $2 billion in damages, more than any U.S. jury has ever awarded in a patent infringement case. The case is a six-year legal dispute that began when Lucent accused Dell of using patented computer-related inventions and demanded royalties.
