Good Shepherd takes second at basketball tourney

The junior varsity basketball team of Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Elgin came home with a second-place trophy in the Immanuel Crystal Lake Invitational Tournament held Jan. 22-26.

The tournament, hosted eight Lutheran Conference teams, came down to the last seconds of the game against Zion Marengo on Sunday.

Players for the team included fourth- through sixth-graders: Connor Albrecht, Philip Baron, Mikel Gray, Seth Morford, Noah Ostdick, Cody Wegener, Kyle Maranhas, Mitchell Loome, Brandon Giesey, Matthew McFarlane, Chad Alsip, Ryan Cork, Gideon Doran, Colton Fisher, and Brian Johnson, coached by Jeff Doran and Kurt Maranhas.
