Visiting scholar: Poet, educator and scholar Eva Hooker presents two lectures in February as part of Benedictine's "Visiting Scholar in Catholic Thought" series. Hooker speaks on "What Soul Says: Invited Dark Night to Supper" at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Scholl Hall, Room 101. She presents "Notes for Survival in the Wilderness" at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Scholl Hall, Room 101. The lectures are free.

Black voters in 2008: A panel of African-American educators discuss "Who Owns the Black Vote?" at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Krasa Center, rooms A, B and C. Sponsored by Benedictine's Global Studies Forum. For details, call (630) 829-6250.

Voiceover class: Adult learners can find out about the basics of the voiceover industry in "Voices for All" from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 28 and 1 to 3 p.m. April 18 at Benedictine's Moser Center, 1832 Centre Point Circle, Suite 102, Naperville. Pondering Lent: The public is invited to attend "Lent in the Abbey" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 1 at St. Procopius Abbey, 5601 College Road, Lisle. The schedule includes coffee, a lecture, the Sacrament of Penance, readings, Mass, lunch, a presentation on "A Little Extra Measure," midday prayer and an opportunity to join the monks for Vespers at 5 p.m. in the Abbey Church. Faith and reason: A panel of scholars engage in dialogue about climate change and population growth in "Transformation from the Individual to the Global: How Faith and Reason Can Save the World" from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 28. For details, call (630) 829-6250.

Volleyball camp: Girls in first through eighth grades can have fun while improving their volleyball skills at Spring Break Volleyball Camp March 31 to April 3 in the Dan and Ada Rice Center on campus.

Camp for girls in first through fifth grades is from 9 to 10:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for girls in sixth through eighth grades.

The cost is $55 per child. Campers should wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes and bring a bottle of water. All personal items should be brought in a bag clearly marked with the child's name.

Soccer camp: Boys and girls ages 6 to 17 who want to improve their soccer skills are invited to attend Benedictine's Spring Break Soccer Camp March 31 to April 4 at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex on campus.

The program is divided into two sessions -- 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. -- and designed to meet the needs of each camper.

Campers should bring shorts, T-shirts, water bottle, soccer shoes, shin guards and their own soccer ball.
