Winnetka custom home up for auction

Sheldon Good & Company Auctions LLC invites buyers to name their price on a 4,000-square-foot, French-inspired custom home located in Winnetka, announced Steven L. Good, chairman & CEO of the Chicago-based real estate services firm.

The four-bedroom, 4½-bath residence will be offered for sale at an auction, to be held via the Dutch, or "high to low" method. This means the auctioneer will open with the highest asking price, which is $3,200,000, and incrementally lower the price until someone accepts. The first person to make an offer within the bidding range is the winning bidder. The lowest published asking price for this home is $2,400,000.

The auction is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4 at the Marriott Renaissance in Northbrook. Registration is at 6 p.m., and the auction will begin at 7 p.m.

"We anticipate this auction to have an extremely high turnout because of both the desirability of Winnetka and the caliber of this property," said Good. "The auction presents the very rare opportunity to purchase a custom-designed estate home within walking distance of Lake Michigan on Chicago's exclusive North Shore."

Good noted that the auction allows the sellers to reduce the marketing and carrying costs of a conventional marketing program while selling the property in a short period of time; therefore, the auction will be the only opportunity to purchase this property at the buyers' own price.

The exterior of the home features a stone façade with limestone detailing, copper gutters and a slate roof. Multiple patios and terraces, a professionally landscaped yard and winding driveway add to the home's curb appeal, said Good.

"This home is truly one of the most remarkable properties on the market on the North Shore right now," Good added.

Winnetka is an easy commute to downtown Chicago and the surrounding suburbs via I-94, Sheridan Road and the Metra.

Located at 654 Pine Street, the property can be inspected from 1 to 3 p.m. on Feb. 24 and March 2.
