Spirit nominees sought

McHenry County Department of Health would like to acknowledge individuals who have made an impact on the community with the Spirit of Public Health Awards.

It has been the experience of the health department that successful programs involve people whose efforts and passion help improve the health and well-being of its community. The department is looking for nominations of individuals or groups that embody the spirit of public health.

The categories include:

• Students: those who have demonstrated a commitment toward improving the health of the community through volunteering, fundraising, mentoring or increasing awareness of a health concern

• Volunteers: those who have shown dedication outside of their normal work day to improve the safety and health of the community

• Professionals: those who have made an improvement on the health and well-being of the public

A description of the Spirit of Public Health Awards can be viewed on the Web site www.mcdh.info along with winners from previous years and this year's nomination form.

The deadline to file nominations is March 21.

Be specific when discussing the person or group being nominated and how their contribution embodies the spirit of public health.

Selected candidates will be notified. Awards will be presented at a special event in April celebrating Public Health Month.

MCDH employees are not eligible to receive this award. Questions should be directed to Debra Quackenbush, McHenry County Department of Health, at (815) 334-4510.
