Indian Prairie unveils new boundary proposals

Indian Prairie Unit District 204 administrators today unveiled new school boundary recommendations for the district's elementary, middle and high schools.

Deputy Superintendent Kathryn Birkett said the proposals, expected to be voted on by the school board next Tuesday, achieve the district's primary goal of balancing enrollment and providing room for future growth.

The proposed high school boundaries would essentially send a majority of students currently attending Waubonsie Valley High School and living north of Aurora Avenue to the new Metea Valley High School.

Students currently living in the district's west and south-central areas primarily west of Route 59 would attend Waubonsie Valley High School. A majority of students living east of Route 59 who currently attend Neuqua Valley would continue there.

In the elementary plan, about 360 of the district's 13,200 elementary students would be moved to alleviate over-crowding and plan for future growth.
