Businesses can attend networking showcase

For anyone who's ever considered using acupuncture, Chinese medicine, shiatsu massage or herbology treatments to address a health concern, a stop by chiropractor Kent Christianson's booth at tonight's Winter Showcase may be in order.

"We'll bring people into the booth with massages," Christianson said. "We'll be doing some health screenings and quick assessments. "

Christianson said he's eager to increase awareness of the range of chiropractic services and applications.

"That's another good reason to get out there, so that people don't get pigeon-holed into thinking that chiropractic is only about back and neck pain," he said.

"We're the second-largest providers of health-care services in the nation -- the chiropractic community -- and we do it without drugs and surgery."

Christianson, owner of Naperville-based Holistic Chiropractic and current president of the Naperville Jaycees, is one of about 30 business owners expected to showcase their services and products at the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce event from 5 to 7 p.m. at Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873, 908 W. Jackson Ave., Naperville.

"It's like a normal business after-hours, only with exhibit tables," said Lisa Livingston, the chamber's assistant manager of events.

Livingston said representatives from a variety of restaurants, banks, retail stores and specialty service providers will be at the showcase.

The event, open to the public, features an open bar. Each visitor will be given two free drink tickets, she said. Visitors may also indulge in hors d'oeuvres provided by Belgio's Catering.

The Winter Showcase, like the regular monthly business after-hours sessions, are popular with local business people and guests, Livingston said.

"There's usually about 200 people that attend," she said.

Christianson said the showcase, held this year for the first time in the VFW Hall, is an excellent networking opportunity for businesses such as his holistic health center.

"It's a great opportunity for me to share with the other business owners in the community at-large drug-free, surgical-free options to help their bodies heal," he said. "A lot of people aren't aware of some of these alternatives that don't include drugs and/or surgery to help restore their bodies' health and function.

"We do a lot of internal health in my office and in my practice using enzyme nutrition and it's amazing, the results we get, with internal health challenges."
