"Music Changes Lives": Dundee-Crown Parents of Music Performers will host its third annual music celebration, "Music Changes Lives" from 1 to 4 p.m. March 9 at Boulder Ridge Country Club, 350 Boulder Drive, Lake in the Hills. D-C POMP is a nonprofit booster organization dedicated to the performing arts at Dundee-Crown High School.
This luncheon, concert and silent auction will feature performances by the D-C Chamber Orchestra, Chorale, Jazz Band, and Honors Choir, as well as selections from the April production of "The Music Man." Marc Beth, master of ceremonies, will present special guest performances by the high school music directors, Mark Bettcher and John Gorman.
The silent auction and $500 cash prize raffle will benefit student music scholarships.
More than 400 students participate in the school's music program, many of whom would otherwise be unable to enhance their music careers beyond regular instruction.
Silent auction donations are gratefully accepted.
Luncheon performance reservations are $35 per person and $20 for students. Raffle tickets are $2 or six for $10; you need not be present to win. For reservations, donations, tickets or details, call Becky at (847) 836-6792.
"The Music Man": Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville has begun the process that will bring you "The Music Man" on April 17-19.
The delightful story of the con-man salesman Harold Hill, who fools everybody but the intelligent town librarian Marian Paroo, includes all sorts of characters. It's brimful of rousing music, from marches to love ballads, and sparks with the energy and enthusiasm of an extremely talented and large cast.
