Woods' teacher highlights golf show

All the snow this week made it apparent that golf season is still a ways away.

While we impatiently wait for the change in weather, there is a quick fix this weekend as the Chicagoland Golf Show comes to Schaumburg.

"We love going to cold-weather cities," said Pat Gould of North Coast Golf Productions. "We don't bring our golf shows to warm-weather cities because they get to play year-round. People that live in places like Chicago get such an itch to play, and we try to help that."

The admission price for adults and senior citizens is good for all three days (today-Sunday), and with the guests scheduled to appear, it's a steal.

Highlighting the weekend is Hank Haney, Tiger Woods' instructor and a Chicago native. Golf Magazine recently voted Haney as one of the "Top 3 Teachers in the World." You will be able to see him on the main stage Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The show also features former world long-drive champion Brian Pavlik. Pavlik has a swing speed that tops out at 145 mph, and he's also known for a routine of trick shots. With 53-inch drivers, 4-foot high tees and the ability to hit golf balls out of their sleeves, Pavlik's performance is unreal.

If it's new equipment you're in search of, the show will have about 30 exhibitors. Golf shows can be a great way to save money on last year's club models, golf balls and shoes. So if you're looking to ditch that 395 cc driver or that rusty putter, there's sure to be something for you.

The Chicagoland Golf Show also features a full driving range and skills contests, and you will receive a free one-year subscription to Golf Magazine for attending.
